In sexual reproduction,
Two parents are involved.one male and one female.
the male gonads or reproductive organs i.e. Testis produce male gamete i.e.Sperms and the female gonads ovary produce ova.
Both sperm and ova are formed due to meiosis type of cell division.In this type of cell division,when a diploid cell (having 46 chromosome) divides into 2 haploid cells each having 23 chromosome.Thus Sperm (23chromosome) + Ova or egg (23 chromosome) -baby having 46 chromosome.
further if sperm having X chromosome fertilises the ova,then it is a boy having XX sex chromosome.Similarly,if a sperm having Y chromosome fertilises the ova,it is a girl
