Among the many challenges of industrialization, is increasing population and urbanization. Both industrialization and urbanization can be subdivided into:

Industrialization/urbanization in developing countries and in developed countries

Industrialization in developing countries :

In cities like Lagos Nigeria, that has experienced tremendous urbanization and rapid population growth over the past 30 years. The increasing population, often times does not include rapid expansion in infrastructure. So the increased population present a new set of challenges to an already stretched infrastructure.

Challenges like the sourcing and distribution of portable water, of electricity, waste disposal and sewage management, biological and chemical runoffs from plants and industries. Often unregulated and poorly supervised construction projects, land usage and the administration of pesticides in agriculture, etc cetera.

There are four primary impact points when it comes to industrialization — air, water, soil and habitat. The biggest problem is air pollution, caused by the smoke and emissions generated by burning fossil fuels. ... In spite of these regulations, industries are among the worst generators of air pollution in the world.
