Zinc is obtained from sulphides ores by roasting.
ZnS + O2 = ZnO + SO2
Frm carbonate ores by calcination
Znco3 = ZnO + Co2
Then by reduction process pure zinc is obtained
Zno + C = Zn + CO
Difference :
In roasting sulphides ores are heated n SO2 is released
In calcination carbonate ores are heated n Co2 is released
