Explain how it is possible that many individuals infected by HIV can test positive for this virus but still remain healthy for many years?

What basically happens is that the virus can get active even after years or within days. Also there are ARVs [ AntiRetroVirals] , that suppresses the virus for a longer time.

Note : ARVs don't kill the virus and cure the patient, as viruses are incurable.
