The number of latitude degrees will be larger the further away from the equator the place is located, all the way up to 90 degrees latitude at the poles. Latitude locations are given as __ degrees North or __ degrees South. Vertical mapping lines on Earth are lines of longitude, known as "meridians".

Answer:

"Latitude and longitude" are imaginary lines which are traced on the earth's surface.

Latitudes are the lines which run from east to west and are "parallel" to each other.

Longitudes run from north to south and are "perpendicular" to the "equator" and "latitude lines". Both of these lines form a grid on the globe through which one can locate a specific location using geographical coordinates.

For example: Mumbai is located "19.07 degree north" and "72.87 degree east".
