Natality in population ecology. Natalityin population ecology is the scientific term for birth rate. Along withmortality rate, natality rate is used tocalculate the dynamics of a population. They are the key factors in determining whether a population is increasing, decreasing or staying the same in size.

Natality and Mortality calculation :

Calculation of Natality:

The birth rate or the Natality rate could be calculated by dividing the number of births by the sum of time at “risk of giving birth over all individuals”. It can be calculated using the following formula:

\bold{\text { Natality rate }=\frac{\text { Number of birth over period of time}}{\text { Avergae number of individuals } \times \text {Time period}}}

Calculation of Mortality:

The mortality or death rate is calculated by separating the number of death in an interim by the sum of time in danger over all people. It can be calculated using the following formula:

\bold{\text {Mortality rate}=\frac{\text {Number of death over period of time}}{\text {Total of time at risk of death of all individual}}}
