By the the end of 19th centurya large number of newspapersin Indian vernacularlanguages were published.

• this these newspapers published articleswritten by National leaders. Their their ideas were communicated to the people through these newspapers.

• the people of different communities and places were connected by print media.

Newspaper conveyed news from one one place to another creating pan- Indian identities.

• the the nationalist newspaper exposed the colonial misrule and encouraged National nationalist activities. As these were written in spoken languages of various regions common man could easily understand the content.

• various various novels with nationalistic themes were published by leading leading novelist in India. One of these was bankim Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The song ' Vande Matram' by him and his novel 'Anandmath' created created and stirred nationalist feelings in the country.
