Explain how the green plants converts sunlight energy into chemical energy by making carbohydrate. (If you can then please explain it according to the level of 10th class)

Hey there!

The chlorophyll on exposure to the sunlight becomes activated and absorbs photons. photons are nothing but the smallest units od sunlight.

The absorbed energy is used to break the water molecules which are already absorbed by the roots of the plant. Water molecule is splitter into two ions namely hydrogen (H+) and hydroxyl ion (OH-).

H2O ------------> H+ + OH-

This reaction is known as photolysis. Photo means light and lysis means breaking. It is known as Hills reaction as it discovered by him.

The highly reactive H+,OH- ions of water undergo quick change.

OH- ions through a series of steps produce water and oxygen. Hi+ ions undergo series of changes in dark reaction or light independent reaction. at the end of light reaction, ADP and NADPH compounds are formed.

In this way light energy is converted into chemical energy.

And further reactions take place in dark reaction to form glucose.

If you still have any doubt.. you can ask me.
