General methods are:--
For air-borne microbes we can prevent exposure by providing living conditions that are not overcrowded.
For waterborne microbes, we can prevent exposure by providing safe drinking water.this can be done by treating water to kill any microbe contamination.
For vector-borne infections, we can provide clean environment. This would not allow vector breeding eg. Breeding of mosquito. And public hygiene is also important.

Question :-

  • General prevention of infectious diseases?

Answer :-

There are some general ways to prevent infectious diseases . These are precautions against exposure to infectious microbes, we can take the following frequency means to prevent exposure to microbes.

Safe drinking water :-

we can prevent exposure to water borne diseases like typhoid ,cholera and hepatitis by providing safe drinking .Water resources of drinking water are usually rivers, pounds or underground sources these can get contaminated when sewage or rain water carrying infectious agents flow into them . Therefore drinking water should be filtered to remove suspended particles and treated to kill bacteria.

Proper disposal of waste :-

We can prevent exposure to infectious diseases of the stomach and intestine which can spread through contaminated food by ensuring the proper disposal of waste. The waste we generate everyday is the breeding ground for disease causing microbes. The collected garbage should be burnt or buried. All sewage carrying drains should be covered, the pipes of the sewage disposal system should be away from the pipes carrying water . They need to be checked frequently for cracks to prevent the contamination of water bodies . Sewage should be treated before disposal into the water bodies.

Control of vectors :-

We can prevent exposure to vector borne diseases by controlling the growth and breeding of animal like mosquitoes ,flies , cockroaches and rats. Providing clean surroundings will prevent them from breeding and carrying diseases. we should take steps to eliminate vectors like mosquitoes, house flies and sand flies by spraying insecticides. It would be best to eliminate the sites at which they breed.

Having a strong immune system :-

we have an immune system that depends the body from infectious agents. Immunity is the ability of the body to resist infections everyday we are exposed to many infectious agents but we are able to resist them and do not suffer from many diseases all the time. we are protected from diseases because we have an immune system that recognises any foreign substances or invading disease causing organisms and destroys it our immune system works with the help of the white blood cells or leucocytes.

Taking a balanced diet :-

We need a balanced diet for the proper functioning of our immune system as mentioned earlier it has been seen that people who eat a balanced, nourishing diet are less prone to falling in as they have better immunity. Therefore prevention of infectious diseases also depends many availability of proper food.
