1) Alloy can make soft metal hard .
2) Alloy can make insulator to semiconductor.
3) Alloy can change the properties of any metals .

Hey Friend,

Alloys must be miscible in liquid state and not separate on solidification. Alloys have properties intermediate between those of the metals composing them.

Metals are alloyed to -

1. increase hardness, tensile strength or resistance to electricity.
Example: Brass, Nickel steel, Nichrome (respectively)

2. lower the melting point.
    Example: Solder

3. modify appearance, colour, or chemical activity of the metal
Example: stainless steel, bronze, sodium amalgam.

The above points state that the properties of the alloy are different from the constituent metals! The alloys are formed to improve the properties of the metals like malleability, ductility, strength, hardness, resistance to corrosion and appearance!

Hope it helps!
