Prem Chand always wrote about nationalism. Although in his stories he did not directly use characters like Gandhi , Nehru, Extremists etc. This is evident in the story Do Bailon Ki Katha. In the story he promotes nationalism. A character named Gaya's house is symbolic of the two cows' motherland I.e. India. The cows, one being calm and non violent symbolises someone who followed Gandhi and followed peace. The other was furious and angry symbolising an Extremist.
Thus his stories promoted nationalism amongst the Indians.
