Following are the steps to use a solar cooker:

(a) The solar cooker must be placed under the sunlight one hour before cooking so that it gets heated up to 100 degrees or more.

(b) Thin-walled black pots must be used for cooking. Aluminium pots that are safe for food must be used.

(c) To cook rice or sauces, 1/3 less of water needs to be used.

(d) While cooking, the number of times of opening the lid should be reduced, as there are chances of temperature dropping.

(e) Time taken by the food to get cooked in a solar cooker is more when compared to the conventional methods. Therefore, there is no need for stirring as the food won’t burn in the solar cooker.
