To calibrate a Celcius temperature scale, following method can be used to do it locally :

Ice Point method :

1) Fill a plastic or metal container with chipped or crushed ice, then add clean freshwater to a depth of at least 10 cm.
2) Stir the ice and water and them wait for a minimum 2 minutes to be certain that the water is completely cooled and good mixing has occurred.
3) Suspend the stem of the thermometer
4) Wait 2 minutes untill the indicator stops changing
5)  get it calibrated.
