The property of ferromagnetic substances by virtue of which intensity of magnetization lags to external field is called as hysteresis.
It is the property of ferromagnetic substance only.
The intensity of magnetization returned by the ferromagnetic sample even after reducing the applied field to zero is called as retentivity or residual value.
The value of revised magnetic field that is required to reduce the residual value to zero is called as coercivity.
