SIMILE is used when comparison is done by using the words 'as'or 'like' in the sentence......eg-- She is as beautiful as moon.....(as is used)..... METAPHOR is used when comparison is done without using the words as or like...eg--He is sun...... ALLITERATION is used when repetition of consonant sounds is at the beggining of words......eg----Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers............. REPITITION is used when when words or phrases are repeated in a sentence.......eg---- The ice was here the ice was there the ice was all around............. PERSONIFICATION is used when an object or animal is given human feelings, thoughts, or attitudes........eg--- The stars danced playfully in the moonlit sky...........HYPERBOLE is used for extreme exaggeration......eg--- It was so cold, I saw polar bears wearing jackets......IRONY is used when. words are used in such a way that their intended meaning is different from the actual meaning of the words.
