The newspapers were both in English and Vernacular languages, which helped people across the country to be aware of the condition of the country as well as the ideal thoughts of the French and American Revolutions.
The newspapers criticised the government policies in their articles. They voiced the grievances of of the Indians and gave expression to their social, economic and political demands.They generated political awareness among the masses regarding events taking place across the globe. During the freedom struggle, the newspapers became a powerful instrument.in disseminating anti-British feelings and in arousing people against the government.
