explain in brief : The octet and duplet rule of atoms.

Octet rule of atom is the state of atom in which they gain fulfilled electrons in their last shell...but here they get inert by having 8 electrons whereas they get inert by having 2 electrons in their last shell. Example of octet is oxygen and example of duet is hydrogen.
