- Explain in detail about the sultan and his nobles during the period of Delhi Sultanate
- As far I am concerned with the knowledge of history, Iltutmish introduced the concept of nobility in his kingdom.
- The nobles were aristocrats who were given huge lands and in return they used to provide military and financial support to the ruler and kingdom.
- It was to have a support system for the newly established mamluk dynasty founded by father in law of Iltutmish, Qutub ud din Aibak.
- But these nobles have gained much notoriety during the tenure of the subsequent ruler razia sultana, who was said to be first female Muslim ruler in the Indian subcontinent , by revolting against her.
- Ghiyasuddin Balban, who ascended the throne later, tried to suppress the nobles and establish his supremacy in the kingdom.
- He was the last powerful ruler from Mamluck dynasty of Delhi sultanates.
- Mamluck dynasty was later followed by khiji dynasty.
