STRUCTURE OF NEPHRON

each nephron consists of three parts

1) malpighian body
2)loop of henle
3) collecting duct

MALPIGHIAN BODY:

it consists of two parts

:bowman's capsule
: glomerulus

BOWMAN'S CAPSULE

the upper part of nephron is cup- shaped called bowman's capsule. it has glomerulus in its cavity.

GLOMERULUS :

it is a cluster of branches which is present in the cavity of nephron. it is formed by a branch of renal artery called afferent arteriole.

the blood carried away from the glomerulus by a small vessels called efferent arteriole. the efferent vessel from two types of capillaries one type of capillaries are called peritubular and other capillaries called vasa recta.

LOOP OF HENLE

the proximal convoluted tube opens into U shaped structure. it passes down into medulla where it bends back and runs up again into the cortex. the loop this formed is known as the loop of henle.
it consists of two limbs descending and ascending limbs.it check the concentration of urine.

COLLECTING DUCT

when tubule reaches the cortex it again becomes convoluted and then passesinto straight part called collecting tubule. many collecting tubules join to form the discharging tubules which finally open at the apex of pyramids. they lead into pelvis which is the expended anterior part of the ureter lying within kidney.
