Answer:

In simple words, retreating means withdrawal. So, withdrawal of south-west monsoon winds from skies of north India during months of October and November is known as retreating monsoon. The withdrawal is gradually and takes about three months.

Explanation:

When the retreating monsoon blows from the northeast across the Bay of Bengal, it picks up a significant amount of moisture, which is subsequently released after moving back onto the peninsula. ... That rainy extension of the generally dry retreating monsoon is called the northeast, or winter, monsoon.

Hope it helps, mate

Answer:

Monsoon comes from south east direction causing rainfall to many parts of country.

But during winter, due to shifting of pressure belts, low pressure prevails on the sea while high pressure prevails on the Indian mainland. As air flows from high pressure to low pressure area, The monsoon wind also moves from the mainland towards the sea. This is called the retreat of monsoon. After that, it meets in the equator and then flows straight.
