Answer:

The potential difference induced across the ends of a coil of wire is equal to the time rate of change of the magnetic flux through that coil of wire. This potential difference is known as an induced"electromotive force" or as an induced emf.

Hope it helps!

The induced potential difference is the potential difference generated due to a change in the magnetic field around a wire.

Its mechanism:

  • When the magnetic field around a loop is changed, the potential difference also changes which in turn changes the electric current flowing through it.
  • This phenomenon is also known as induced emf or electromagnetic induction. It is based on Faraday's law.

What is Faraday's law?

It states that the potential difference induced across coil of wire is equal to the  rate of change in the magnetic field through that wire.

   ∈ = NΔ∅/Δt

Here, ∈ = induced potential difference

Δ∅/Δt = rate of change in the magnetic field and,

Factors influencing potential induced:

The potential difference induced is determined by the following factors:

  1. The speed of the wire's movement
  2. The magnetic field strength
  3. Number of loops in wire

This phenomenon is used in the working of generators.
