when we inhale the gas from atmosphere, our ribs and lungs gets expanded . Now the pressure inside the lungs gets decreased and thus the air reaches to the lungs
Here, exchange of gas takes place through diffusion and oxygen gets absorbed
Now,the CO2 needs to be released
During exhalation, the ribs and the lungs gets contacted and hence, pressure inside the lungs decreases. Because of this, the CO2 gets out from the lungs
here,1 cycle gets completed

Explanation:
During inhalation, the lungs expand with air and oxygen diffuses across the lung's surface, entering the bloodstream. During exhalation, the lungs expel air and lung volume decreases. ... During exhalation, the diaphragm is relaxed which decreases the volume of the lung cavity.
