Interpretation is the act of explaining, reframing, or otherwise showing your own understanding of something. A person who translates one language into another is called an interpreter.

The three modes of interpretation are: simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation, and sight translation.

An interpreter needs:

  • Excellent listening skills of the language(s) they interpret.
  • Excellent speaking skills in the target language(s).
  • This requirement includes clear diction,
  • voice projection
  • discourse structuring.
  • Excellent memory and note-taking skills, etc....
