Encoding is simply converting data from one format to another format to achieve better resolution of image/video or to compress size of for better transmission. decoding is inverse encoding.

JPEG is widely used image compression technique. These devices ofte3n require high-speed image compression techniques. JPEG Enco-der: In the figure DCT stands for the Discrete Cosine Transform and IDCT stands for Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform. The input image is partitioned into a 8x8 sub-block.
