Explain lake zone littoral ecosystem in environmental studies

Littoral zone is the uppermost zone of Shallow water where the phytoplankton are present and the aquatic plants are rooted . It is found near the shores were the light can penetrate and allows the plants to grow. Generally the depth of this zone extends from 5 to 10 metres.
The organisms found in this region includes starfish, brittle star , anemone, snails , crabs , green algae , mosses and other aquatic plants and animals.
