Explain ‘Lime Requirement’.

The term "lime requirement" is somewhat ambiguous. As the term is some- times used, it is simply the amount of lime that must be applied to soil to grow a certain crop. More often, however, it means the amount of CaC03 or its equivalent that must be applied to soil to increase the pH to 7 or some other desired value.
