In an addition reaction of protic acid HX to an alkene or alkyne the hydrogen atom of HX becomes bonded to the carbon atom that had greatest number of hydrogen atoms in the starting alkene or alkyne.

Markovnikov's Rule.....
According to this rule, in case of addition of unsymmetrical reagents to the unsymmetrical alkene the part of reagent is added to that C atom which has more H atoms and -ve part is added to that carbon atom which has less number of carbon atoms..
