Markownicov's rule states that when an unsymmetrical reagent (like HBr) adds to an unsymmetrical alkene, then the halogen (negative part) gets attached to the carbon atom which carries least number of hydrogen atoms. Anti Markownicov's rule states that the addition of unsymmetrical reagent (HBr) takes place exactly opposite to Markownicov's rule in presence of peroxide. Hence it is also called as peroxide effect.

Heya mate...

Markovnikov's Rule.....

According to this rule, in case of addition of unsymmetrical reagents to the unsymmetrical alkene the part of reagent is added to that C atom which has more H atoms and -ve part is added to that carbon atom which has less number of carbon atoms..

Anti-Markovnikov's rule

it is also called peroxide effect or K-Harasch effect.

According to this rule, in case of addition of HBr to unsymmetrical alkene +ve part is added to that carbon atom which have less H atoms and

-ve part to that carbon atom which have more H atoms.

hope this helped
