1) When temperature of water increase from 0 degree celsius to 4 degree celsius it contracts instead of expanding.
2) At the 4 degree celsius the volume is minimum and density is maximum.
3) The behavior of water between its temperature from 0 degree celsius to 4 degree celsius is called as anomalous behavior of water.
4) Hopes apparatus is used to study the anomalous behavior of water.
5) Hopes apparatus consist ofa cylindrical otainer which has a attachment of a flat bowl.
6) T1 and T2 are the two thermometers attach to lower and upper part respectively.
7) The flat bowl cosist of freezing mixture ( ice + salt ) and cylinder is filled with normal water.
8) The temperature of water in middle of the cylinder is lowers due to freezing mixture.
9) When this temperature of water comes at 4 degree celsius , volume is manimum and density is maximum.
10) This water having law density moves downwords.
11) The lower thermometer ( T1 ) shows the temperature 4 degree celsius.
12) The water having minimum density and maximum volume moves upwards , here the temperature of water decreases rapidly due to freezing mixture .
13) When temperature of water starts decreasing below 4 degree celsius volume increases and density decreases.
14) When the water comes at 0 degree celsius it is converted in to ice and the upper thermometer ( T1 ) shows the temperature 0 degree celsius.
