when hydrochloric acid reacts with magnesium,
it produces magnesium chloride with evolution of hydrogen gas...
the chemical equation will be-
Mg + 2HCl -------> MgCl2+ H2
this reaction can be also called as redox reaction becase both oxidation and reduction that is loss and gain of electrons take place
