The valency of Ca CaCO3 is 2 .
As the valency of CO3 ( Carbonate) is also 2 . The valencies of both ( Calcium and carbonate)
gets cancelled in the criss cross system.
Element. Ca CO3
Valency 2 2
So when they form a compound their valencies gets cancelled up.
