Same way the hydro-electric systems works ; by turning a dynamo really quickly, alternating the “magnetic field” within to force electron flow i.e electricity. To better understand how this works. Tear up an old cassette radio and find this :

 
Now notice it has two charge outputs at the bottom ( +VE and -ve ). Connecting its two ends with a medium size wires wires and with hold both wires at different ends of one or 2A batteries. The “rotor” would vibrate and turn.

When the batteries are replaced with a small light bulb. And the nub of the rotor is spinned, the set up would generate enough electricity to light the small bulb.
That is how most generators work. They find a way to keep the turning motion in perpetuity ; as long as there is fuel. But this is only one part of the process, generating the energy to keep the motion constant is the other part.
