mechanism of muscles contraction  :- An action potential travels along a motor nerve to its endings on muscle fibers. the axon of which sends a terminal branch to each fibre of the group. All the muscle fibres of a group contract when a nerve impulse travels down their motor neruon. the calcium ion are pumped back into the sarcoplasmic reticulum until a new muscle action potential comes along; this removal of calcium ions from the myofibrils causes the muscle contraction.
