Mid point theorem states that :

A line segment joining the midpoints of nay two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and is equal of half of it.

So lets consider a Δ ABC.

AB , AC and BC are the three sides of the triangle.

So , according to the theorem :

Consider D to be the midpoint of the side AB. This means that the point D on AB divides AB into two equal parts ( BD and AD)

Similarly , E is the midpoint of AC.This means that the point E on AC divides AC into two equal parts ( AE and CE )

So , when D and E are joined , a line segment DE is formed.
This line segment DE is parallel to the third side that is , BC.

DE || BC.

Also , the line segment DE = \frac{1}{2} BC

So ,
when the midpoints of any two sides of a triangle are joined , the line segment which joins the midpoints is parallel to the 3 rd side of the triangle and is also equal to half of it.

So , hope the midpoint theorem is understood by you.
