When a boiling point of a solvent (liquid) is increased by adding another compound, the solution reaches higher boiling point which is called as ‘molal elevation’ or boiling point elevation. It occurs when a pure solvent is added with non-volatile solute.
An instrument called ebullioscope is used for this molal elevation measurement method to detect accurate boiling point and the difference in boiling point measurements.
