NABARD stands for National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. It is an apex development financial institution (DFI) in India, headquartered at Mumbai. It finances and refinances credit for promoting the various developmental activities in rural areas.

The major functions of NABARD include promotion and development, refinancing, financing, planning and monitoring and supervision. Non-credit related: Credit Planning and Monitoring, Coordination with various agencies and institutions.
