Explain nutrition in Amoeba.

➡️We know Amoeba is a microscopic protozoan and an unicellular organism which is found in pond water.

➡️It constantly changes its shape and position.

➡️It has pseudopodias acting as false feet for movement and for capture of food.

Nutrition in Amoeba:-

▶️When it senses microscopic organisms or food nearby itself,

▶️It encircles itself around the food by its pseudopodias and then ingests and engulfs it and traps it in a food vaculole.

▶️Digestive juices are secreted into the food vacuole.

▶️They act on the food and break down into simpler substances.

▶️Gradually the digested food is absorbed.

▶️The absorbed substances are used for growth, maintainance and reproduction.

▶️The undigested residue of the food is expelled outside by the vacuole.

HEY MATE!!!

■ Amoeba takes in food using temporary finger like extension of the cell surface which fuse over the food particle forming a food vacuole.

■ Inside the food vacuole, complex substances are broken down into simpler ones which then diffuse into the cytoplasm.

■ The remaining undigested material is moved to the surface of the cell and thrown out.
