Explain pancreas gland

pancreas is located on the left side below the stomach it secrets bile which helps in digestion of lipids

Answer :

Pancreas :  

 It is second largest gland present near duodenal loop.

 It has both exocrine and endocrine parts

 Exocrine parts :  It secrets alkaline pancreatic juice which contains inactive enzyme amylases.

 It break down fats completely into fatty acids and glycerol it also breaks down carbohydrate and protein  

 Endocrine parts : It consists of groups of isulets of Langerhans.it consist of 3 types of cell  

1. Alpha cells

2. Beta cells  

3. Delta cells

Alpha cells : They produce glucagon harmone which convert glucagon into glucose in the liver .

Beta cells : They produce insulin harmone which converts glucose into glycogen in the liver and the muscles.

Delta cells : They secrete somatostatin harmone which inhibs the secretion of glucagon by alpha cells and secretion of insulin nutrients from the gastroinstestinal tract.
