Parasitic Nutrition -

  • Parasites are the organisms having parasitic nutrition.

  • The organisms live either on or inside the body of another organisms to gain their nutrition without killing them.

  • lice, leech, tapeworm, flatworm, ticks are the examples of parasites.

  • Plants like Cuscuta and yellow rattle are the examples parasites.

Additional information -

Heterotrophic nutrition -

  • It occurs in fungi, animals, amoeba and plants such as Cuscuta (amarbel).

  • Digestion occurs in heterotrophs.

  • They are also known as consumers in the food chain.

  • Chlorophyll is absent in heterotrophs.

Types of heterotrohic nutrition

  • Holozoic nutrition

Ex - Ameoba, cow, goat, human being etc.

  • Saprotrophic nutrition

Ex - Yeast, bacteria, mushrooms and fungi etc.

  • Parasitic nutrition

Ex - Lice, ticks, flatworms, leech and tapeworm etc.
