The parathyroids produce a hormone calledparathyroid hormone (PTH). PTH raises the blood calcium level by: breaking down the bone (where most of the body's calcium is stored) and causing calcium release. increasing the body's ability to absorb calcium from food.

A gland that regulates calcium , located behind the thyroid gland in the neck is known as parathyroid gland.
The parathyroid glands secretes hormone called parathormone that is critical to calcium and phosphorus metabolism.
