Active voice

●When the subject itself does the work, that means==>subject is active

●The subject ==> is doer actor of action

E.g==> He did it.

Passive Voice

When the subject does not do the work, it remains inactive.

The subject ==> is not the doer but receives the result of the action..

E.g==> It was done by him

Examples ===>

  • Active voice --I am taking tea
  • Passive voice --Tea is being taken by me.
  • Active voice -- I know him
  • Passive voice-- He is known to me

Rules for changing voice

  • The object of the active voice becomes the subject of the passive voice
  • The subject of the active voice becomes the object of the passive voice
  • The main verb in the passive voice is changed into the 3rd form of the verb in passive voice
  • The 3rd form must be preceded by "be" in the passive voice. The tense of the be verb in the passive voice depends upon the tense of the active voice.
