Past Perfect Continuous Tense

This Tense is used for an action that began in past and continued up to another point in past.

Verb Form:-

Had+Been+Verb+ing

Example:-

  1. She had been driving for three hours when she past by the village.
  2. He had been studying since 8 o'clock when his friend arrived.

Exercise:-

  1. Nandini had been writing (write)for one hour when phone bell rang .
  2. The Teacher had been teaching (teach) since 12 o'clock when it rained Heavily.
  3. The Workers had been building (build) the bridge for 6 months when the earthquake happen.

let's have an example.

I have been writing since morning.

here, the word "have" is placed to show the property of perfect tense and

"writing" (i. e. verb+ ing) has been used to show the property of Continuous tense.

to bridge the words "have" and " writing" , we have fetched another new word i.e. "been".
