Hey There!  Phototropism is the mechanism that leads plants to grow towards light, and photosynthesis is the mechanism that enables plants to harvest light. Phototropism is the growth of an organism which responds to a light stimulus. It is most often observed in plants, but can also occur in other organisms such as fungi. The cells on the plant that are farthest from the light have a chemical called auxin that reacts when phototropism occurs.

Geotropism is the gravitational aspect of plant growth. The directional growth of an organism in response to gravity. Roots display positive geotropism when they grow downwards, while shoots display negative geotropism when they grow upwards. This response to gravity is called geotropism, or gravitropism. The roots are exhibiting positive geotropism, or growth with gravity, while the stem is exhibiting negative geotropism, or growth against gravity. Different parts of a plant grow in opposite directions because they have different functions.

Phototropism is the response of a plant to sunlight. Geotropism is the response of stems and roots towards and against the Earth. An example of phototropism in the animal world is ants as they're attracted or they respond to sunlight and mostly come out during the day. An example of geotropism in the animal world is all animals as the legs never leave the earth's surface but the hands or other body parts work against the earth's gravity.
