Blood, a mobile connective tissue composed of a fluid, the plasma and the cells, the blood corpuscles.

Plasma :-

  • It is a slightly alkaline non-living intercellular substance (watery fluid).

  • It constitutes 55% part of the blood.

  • It is pale yellow bin colour but transparent and clear.

  • It is composed of water, minerals, proteins, immunoglobulins, excretory products, hormones, etc.

RBC :-

  • Erythrocytes or the Red Blood Corpuscles are the most abundant cells in the human body.

  • These are non-nucleated , biconcave and circular cells.

  • These cells do not have cell organelles which increases their surface area and enables these to carry more haemoglobin.

  • Haemoglobin, the respiratory pigment in our blood is responsible for the red colour of the RBCs.

WBC :-

  • Leucocytes or the white blood corpuscles are colourless and irregular in shape. They can change their shape like amoeba.

  • These cells are larger than RBCs.

  • White blood cells are of two types Agranulocytes and Lymphocytes.

  • These cells play a vital role in our immune system as these are responsible for producing antibodies, engulfing bacterias and other waste material being phagocytic in nature, etc.
