Mr aurther Gilman was the principal of Cambridge school of young ladies . He was a kind and able teacher . Helen entered Cambridge School , to be prepared for Radcliffe . Out of generosity he let Mildred, Helen's sister studied at Cambridge . He was present for Helen as teacher , interpreter and mentor . He took time out to read Shakespere's " As You Like It " with her . He was a teacher who made study interesting for Helen. However , due to different opinion on Helen's preparing period for college , and misunderstanding with Miss Sullivan , their friendship came to an end .
