alcohols of comparativ molecular wt. have higher b.p. than that of hydrocarbons.
this is bcz the -OH group of alcohols form H-Bonds b/w the molecules making the escape of molecules difficult, thus increasing the b.p. whereas in n-butane, there are weak vanderwaal's forces.
