Calvin Cycle:
The light independent reaction of photosynthesis is also known as calvin cycle.
The ATP and NADPH produced in light reaction are used here.
Carbon dioxide is transferred into a six carbon sugar with two phosphates attached.
This compound breaks down to form phosphoglyceric acid or PGA.
By the help of ATP and NADPH, PGA is converted into glyceraldehydes – 3 – phosphate.
Glyceraldehyde – 3 – phosphate is converted into glucose by series of reactions.
The end product of photosynthesis is glucose.
