Regeneration is process by which organisms can repair and restore any damaged part.

It has been the basis of life as it helps with the maintenance of the living system and is modulated at the molecular level by gene regulation.

In humans, regeneration is limited to repair of damaged cells unlike the newts.

Newts display the highest ability to regenerate which takes place in two steps where firstly, the local cells differentiate to for the blastemal and secondly, the blastemal cells use the embryonic stage genetic mechanism to regenerate the limb.
