Rh factor

The Rh factor is named after the Rhesus monkey .

It depends on the antigen present in the blood.

If the blood has a certain antigen , then the blood is Rh positive.

If the blood does not have that then the blood is Rh negative.

During pregnancy the Rh factor has an important role .

Rh incompatibilities during pregnancy may even lead to the death of the foetus leading to abortion.

There fore the Rh factor is important to check .

Rh factor can be passed through the genes to the next generation.
