ripple marks is a system of parallel wavy ridges and furrows left on sand, mud, or rock by the action of water or wind.

When water flows or wind blows over loose sand, the sand towards the bottom is pulled or pushed in the direction of flow,wave like structures of sand are formed on sand perpendicular to the flow.

These ripple marks are seen on beaches in coastal areas or towards the windward side of the barchans.

This is called as Ripple Marks.This terms is used in geography.
